GRK 101 —— Practice with adjective-noun phrases, 1st and 2nd declension only!

 

I. Be prepared to decline in full any of the following phrases:

 

ἡ καλὴ  κόρη     ( cf. ἡ  ἀνδρεία κόρη)                     ὁ ῥᾴδιος πόνος

 

 

ὁ  χαλεπὸς δεσπότης                                                  τὸ μέγα δένδρον

 

 

ἡ μεγάλη ὑδρία                      ἡ καλὴ θάλαττα               ἡ  μακρὰ ὁδός

 

 

 

II. For each of the following phrases (1) identify case as nominative, genitive, dative, or accusative;    (2) change from singular to plural or plural to singular:

 

οἱ μεγάλοι ἄνθρωποι                                         τοὺς καλοὺς οἴκους

 

τῷ ἀγαθῷ [good] δεσπότῃ                               τῆς φίλης γῆς

 

τῶν μεγάλων θαλαττῶν                                 τοῖς ἀργοῖς δούλοις

 

τὴν μικρὰν γῆν                                                 τὸν ἄλλον χρόνον

                                    πολλοὺς πόνους

 

 

ΙΙΙ. For any other 3 of the above phrases complete the sentence (both singular and plural ):

 

 example ——  οἱ μεγάλοι  ἄνθρωποι βαδίζουσιν πρὸς τὸ ἄστυ

                                                          -----›       βαδίζει πρὸς τὸ ἄστυ.
