An early Christian hymn on papyrus (Pap. Oxy. 1786) perhaps as early as the 200s AD.

The first few lines are too fragmentary even to guess at. But by the 4th and 5th lines the theme emerges: let all the world raise voices in praise:

‘Let not the light-bearing stars...

eclipse/leave off...not the gusts of the breezes or all the springs of rivers

rushing; but as we sing our hymn

to father, son and holy spirit (πνεμα) let all the forces (of the earth)

raise up their voices, Amen Amen, power and praise,

[always and glory to God] (to him) alone giver

of all good things. Amen Amen.                          Voice rendition by Patty Krus
