II. For the following (1) tell what part of the sentence the ending indicates 

(nom.gen. dat. acc. or as  subject; 'of';  'to/for'=ind.obj.; dir. object) 

(2) change from singular to plural or plural to singular:

 

ταῖς κρήναις  dative (to/for) plural --> τῇ κρήνῃ                

 

τῷ δεσπότῃ χαλεπῷ  dative (to/for)  -->  τοῖς δεσπόταις

 

τῶν μικρῶν μελιττῶν genitive (of) -> τῆς μικρᾶς μελίττης

 

τὴν  καλὴν οἰκίαν accusative (DO etc.) τὰς καλὰς οἰκίας

IV.  Now translate the following sentences. 

Given here for example, 1 and 3 with trans.

 

1.  ἐπεὶ τῇ κρήνῃ προσχωρεῖ, ἡ Μυρρίνη τάς γυναίκας

καλεῖ καί,  "χαίρετε, ὦ φίλαι," φησίν.

 

When Myrrhine approaches the fountain, she calls

the women and says, “Greetings, (girl) friends.”

 

 

3)  ‘The Farmers are holding/making great festivals in the fields!”

 

οἱ αὐτουργοὶ ἑορτὰς ποιοῦσιν ἐν τοῖς ἀγροῖς.   (what’s missing?)
