GRK 201 Review I.

Nouns and adjectives:

A) Study basic noun/adjective patterns using the Reference Grammar, in the back of Athenaze pp. 277-84.

Find the following on the 'Noun Chart'.

These are essential and should be (re)mastered: know nominative and genitive with definite article, and be able to decline in full.

fountain--κρήνη, .....house-- οἰκία ... 'sea' --θάλαττα....master-- δεσπότης,

field-- ἀγρός,....road-- ὁδός,.... tree-- δένδρον, ἱερόν--temple

city-- πόλις,.... king-- βασιλεύς, priest--ἱερεύς,....man-- ἀνήρ, father-- πατήρ , mother-- μήτηρ

child--παῖς.... name--ὄνομα, .....wall-- τεῖχος,

 

1) Then do the following practice with genitive (='of') and dative (='to/for' or 'with/by' or following ἐν =in/on).

B. For the following (mostly from chh. 17-19):

1) First relearn--nom. and gen. with article for nouns; masc./fem./neut. nom. for adjj....(Find their place on the Noun Chart)

2) Do the following drill with nom. and accusative:

for underlined phrase give the correct form, as either subject or object of the verb:

we see the great ship

 

Now change all from singular to plural.
