difference in stem length after the 14 days of plant growth in metal concentrations--stems were those growing on the second node on the main plant stem above the cotyledon leaf and measured from the node to the first leaf

*3

after 27 days of growth of control plants and plants in metal concentrations, samples were cut 2.54 cm above soil surface, placed in an oven at 80 degrees Celsius for 24 hours and weighed

*4

leaves were ashed at 700 degrees Celsius for 2 hours and dissolved in Nitric acid in a  heated shaker bath--the concentration of Zinc in the leaves was determined by atomic absorption analysis to show if the

uptake of Zn concentrations contributed by the plant food and the

potted soil was blocked by the Cd and Pb concentrations and if the

concentration of Zn in the plant was proportional to the Zn concentra-

tions added to the soil of the Zn test plants
