1. Look up Mark 1:2 in the Three Gospel Synopsis and cf. Matt and Luke's version of this verse.  Can you discover a reason they both left out "Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way"?

2.  Look up Mark 10:17-22. ("The Rich Young Man") in the Three Gospel Synopsis and cf. Matt and Luke's versions.  Can you discover any reasons they might have made the changes they did to Mark?

3. Look up Mark 1:12-13 ("The Temptation") in the Three Gospel Synopsis and cf. Matt and Luke's versions.  Although Matt and Luke add a lot to Mark's account and although they put the temptations in a different order, they have many word for word similarities.  How can this be?

Some examples illustrating the Patterns of (Verbatim) Agreement argument for Markan Priority:

Mt = Mk = Lk

Look at Mark 2:1ff. and pars. for an illustration of

Look at Mark 4:1ff. and pars. for an illustration of

Mt = Mk ≠ Lk

Look at Mark 9:33ff. (cf. 9:49ff. and pars.) and pars. for illustrations of
