Readings Quiz Two

This quiz will consist of forty objective questions worth 20 pts.  A little over half of the questions will be based on the assignments in the biblical text and Roetzel
from Feb 28 through April 9.  (Most of the biblical text questions will coincide with the passages Roetzel discusses; i.e., I'm not going to play Bible trivia with you.)  Don't forget that you also read Acts 18:1–20:2.  The rest of the questions will based on Jews and Christians Speak of Paul (only the presentations of Boyarin and Fredriksen), Penner and Stichele, "Unveiling Paul: Gendering Ethos in 1 Cor 11:2-16", and Martin, "Heterosexism and the Interpretation of Romans 1:18-32."

When preparing for a reading comprehension test, analyze the assignments with an eye toward 1) the main topics, 2) main points, and 3) the arguments and main evidence used to support the points.  To judge the effectiveness of your reading practices, think about this example.  The Martin article has a well written abstract at the end.  It accurately identifies the main topics and main points.  If you had not read this abstract, but instead had written one yourself, would the content of yours have been substantially the same as Martin's?  Could you then go a step further and explain to someone some of the main arguments and evidence Martin used to make his points?
