Career Objectives

		To teach in a student-centered academic program of sociology and/or criminal justice - criminology. I hope to work in a department which places a genuine emphasis on students' needs and which provides a professional environment students may emulate as they graduate and enter the profession of their choice.
		To integrate thirty years of on-going research and service into the classroom through the use of lectures, discussion, student presentations, in-class interviews with area practitioners and professionals, field trips, instructional aids, and other teaching techniques. In a department that fosters and rewards creativity in the role of teacher and advisor.
		To incorporate service learning, internships, and other on-site techniques for learning into the classroom setting.
		To work closely and actively with agencies and individuals in the community in an effort to address their community issues and concerns.
		To work in a department which has a clear mission, goals, and cooperative spirit.
		To continue sociological research on street gangs, youth violence, and other aspects of criminal justice and criminology.
