Educational Background
1970-2001
Continuing Education
Throughout the years, I have been attending the annual meetings of a variety of professional organizations including state, regional, and national meetings of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, American Society of Criminology, Western Social Science Association, Midwest Association of Criminal Justice Educators, and others. In addition to presenting papers and/or moderating or acting as discussant for a variety of panels, I enjoy sitting in on other presentations. In addition, since 1983 I have been traveling throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States (for about 3 months each year). Many of these trips are designed to increase exposure to art, architecture, urban history and, in many cases, involve tours of prisons, ride-alongs with police, and other sociological and criminological contacts. From 1998 to 2006 the trips focused on learning more about street gangs (in Vancouver, Amsterdam, London, and many other cities in the USA).
