Employment History
1986-the present
Associate Professor then Professor (tenured), Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology, Missouri State University, Springfield, MO. Founder and Coordinator of the Criminal Justice Studies Program (now called Criminology). Hired to create and maintain a criminal justice program. The Criminal Justice Studies (CJS) Program at Missouri State University began in 1987 (one year after my arrival).
The CJS program was created as an academic minor in hopes of encouraging our students, future criminal justice professionals, to major in an area outside criminal justice so they may bring that knowledge to the field with them or fall back on it for an alternative career, if needed. A total of 450 students were minoring in CJS by 1996. In 1997, one year after I left as Coordinator of the program, a major was created under the leadership of Dr. Karl R. Kunkel. The program continues to draw students and now has more majors and minors than any other department in our college.
1986-1994
Visiting Critic, Hammons School of Architecture, Drury College, Springfield, MO. Responsible for adding a social science perspective to the college's architecture curriculum. I have had a long-time interest in the urban environment, as a sociologist, and as a wannabe-architect.

By 1986, it had eight full time faculty serving over 400 criminal justice majors, several hundred minors and 30-40 associate of arts students.
1976-1986
