For My New Advisees
My Responsibilities
I believe advisors should be available to their advisees, easy to talk with, good listeners, knowledgeable about the university - its regulations, programs and courses, know a lot about careers and graduate programs in their discipline and, perhaps most important, be interested in the welfare of their advisees.
Your Responsibilities as an AdviseeAdvisees also have responsibilities. I hope and expect my advisees will visit with me several times during each semester they are enrolled, not just before the registration period for the upcoming semester and not only for the first two years. During these visits I will ask how classes are going, if there is anything with which advisees need help and, generally I will try to establish a good working relationship with them.
And when it's time to register for classes, I prefer advisees visit at least four (4) weeks before the date they are to register. Please do not visit with me at the last minute.
Accessing Your Information
Please use this link to access your CASA audit and other documents in which you may have an interest. Before visiting with me, please print your CASA audit and bring it with you.
Contacting me....
You can call me at 417-836-5642 and arrange for an advisement session or you can email me. Our first meeting will probably take about 45 minutes. My office is in the Public Affairs Building (PACB) in room 468 (Sociology and Anthropology Department). I hope you'll spend some time on AdviseNet getting answers to many of the questions you may have. If you do that, the time you and I spend together can be spent on more advanced issues and concerns.
I hope to see you soon!
