Enzyme/Lab Report Links |
PowerPoint PresentationThe following are links to guide you in writing your first LAB REPORT:Sample lab reportLinks to Information about Enzymes: Great Enzyme info (from PowerPoint) - This site provides all the necessary information covered in this lab. This can be a nice reference for your lab report. Make sure to paraphrase and cite this info!Proteins denatured when Frying an egg!Proteins as catalysts from Molecular Biology of the Cell (highly respected cell biology textbook). This chapter is a good introduction to catalysis. However, it is written for junior-senior level courses, so its best to have read about enzymes in our text (Campbell) first.Paustian,
Timothy. 2000. Enzymes- The Biological catalysts.
This page includes good animations of a chemical reaction (Figures
2,3,4). The two substrates (triangle and hexagon, Figure 2) must
contact each other in a precise orientation to combine (Figure
3). The enzyme active site binds both substrates in a favorable
position to react (Figure 4). After they react, they no longer
stick to the active site, freeing it to catalyze again. The
reaction speeds up because both substrates are likely to stick to the
active site.
