"The War is Over"

 

 

The People's Party nominated ex-Union Gen. James B. Weaver and ex-Confederate Gen. James G. Field for for president and vice president in 1892.  The Blue-Gray ticket symbolized the Populist attempt to overcome the Civil War and Reconstruction animosities that Democrats and Republicans had employed to maintain loyalty to their parties.
