"Another Feature of our Platform"

 

 

 

The Omaha Platform called for government ownership of railroads, telephones, and telegraphs.  The preamble to the platform stated that "the railroad corporations will either own the people or the people must own the railroads."  Populists believed that the power monopolies conferred upon their owners constituted a threat to American liberties.
