5-8-06  Tuesday lecture- finish chordates, start on history of life.  Lab- deuterostomes.  Field trip seems unlikely given the weather!
4-24-06  Tuesday lecture: insects, continued, plus we'll spend ~30 min to finish up the presentations.  If you did not bring your handouts the first time please remember them this time.  Lab: if it's not raining I'd like to go to the James River (wading trip).  If it is raining, we'll have an insect lab.
4/18/06  Student presentations in lab today.  I'll start on insects in lecture.
4/10/06  Exam this week (Tuesday, during lab period) and no class on Thursday (Spring Holiday).  The exam will cover pseudocoelomates (nematodes, etc), molluscs, annelids, and arthropods up to but not including the Malacostraca.  I'll lecture at 9 and the test will be during the lab period.
4/4/06 Field trip this afternoon to Wire Road Conservation Area, just south of Crane.  We'll leave from the Temple loading area.
3/27/06  Welcome back- I hope that you had a good break.  I got a flu that I haven't quite shaken yet.  We're about a lecture behind, so I'm going to try to get caught up tomorrow by using some of our time in the afternoon.
3/14  We'll have a mollusk lab today, but I'm revamping the handout & it isn't ready yet.  So, just look over the mollusk lecture notes and come to lab with an open mind.  See you soon.
3/2  There will be no class on next Tuesday 3/7 (I'll be out of town).  There is a program a WOW tonight that you should attend if possible.  They are opening a new exhibit that looks like it is largely Invertebrate Zoology.  Details are here.
2/27  We'll have a "movie day" for lab tomorrow.  Hopefully I'll have the tests done and we can talk about those too.
2/17  Here is that article on ocean acidification and carbon dioxide from the March Issue of Scientific American.  Thanks to David for scanning it.

Here is the lab handout for Tuesday, on flatworms.

2/16 We will have a test during lecture on Thursday next week.  It will cover the course material through the rotifers, including lectures, lab handouts, readings, etc.  Here is an old test as an example of what they are like.  It's just an example of the kinds of questions I ask.  Yes, there is a lot of material.  Yes, I curve the scores.  Yes, some people have flunked the course, but there are always A's too.  E-mail me if you have questions.
2/2:  If the weather permits on Tuesday next week we'll take a field trip to Tablerock Dam (Lake Taneycomo) to collect Hydra & flatworms.  Wear old shoes.  If you have waders or hip boots you may want to bring those.
