Careers in Public Administration

On the Missouri State Department of Political Science home page you will find a discussion of why a student may minor or major in political science or public administration. They also have a special program of study in Public Administration. They also have an excellent link to jobs in public administration.

I’ve seen many criminal justice graduates return to college after several years in law enforcement or corrections so that they could complete a Masters in Public Administration. They’re not interested in management positions in the private sector (such as in business where one may need a Masters in Business Administration, not Public Administration) but they are interested in management positions in the public sector. They often use their new Masters in Public Administration to help them move up in the police department organization or corrections agency in which they work.

Visit The Occupational Outlook Handbook for more information related to public administration positions. You can perform a keyword search to find your desired job.  If you are looking for any kind of job (criminal justice, marketing, or travel agent, etc.), check this site!!
