Location near campus:  toward northeast side of Xeriscape Garden; Xeriscape Garden is at northwest corner of National and Linwood, about 3/4 mile south of campus on National Avenue.

Viburnum dentatum: Arrowwood Viburnum

·         leaves deciduous, simple, opposite, ovate with coarsely toothed margins; leaves are dark green and glabrous above with sunken veins; lighter green and mostly glabrous below, 2-4" long and 2/3 to equally wide

·         stems are gray to gray brown and mostly glabrous

·         grows to 15' tall and about 2/3 as wide, sends out stem sprouts to increase in diameter with age

·         flowers are white, in flat-topped terminal clusters in mid spring; fruit is a blue-black drupe in fall

·         prefers full sun to partial shade, well-drained soils, but is soil adaptable

·         medium growth rate

·         native to Missouri
