Salix alba ‘Tristis:’ Golden Weeping Willow

·         leaves alternate, deciduous, lanceolate-linear with serrate margins; dark green, shiny on top, whitish underneath; 1.5-4" long, about 1/4 as wide

·         stems slender, light yellow to yellow green, smooth and shiny and very flexible/weepy

·         bark is brown, with thick corky ridges and furrows with age

·         grows 50-70' tall in rounded or irregular outline with pendulous new growth

·         prefers full sun and  moist, fertile, soils

·         fast growth rate

·         prone to stem/branch breakage in wind and ice storms; generally short-lived tree
