leaflets; leaflets 1-2" long and

as wide and lobed margins; dark green and glabrous above; somewhat pubescent
underneath; may have good yellow fall color

stems stout, olive to light brown, glabrous with prominent, raised,
orange-brown lenticels and white pith

bark is gray brown with ridges and furrows on older trunks
·
grows 30-40' tall in rounded or spreading outline
·
flowers are yellow, showy in large open terminal panicles from early to
late summer; fruit is a 3-sided capsule with round, black seeds inside
·
prefers full sun to part shade; soil adaptable, except very wet soils
·
medium to fast growth rate
