Juniperus procumbens: Japanese Garden Juniper, Japgarden Juniper     

Location on campus:  southwest corner of Craig Hall, by west door of Temple Hall, in raised bed by

Kings Street Annex.   

·         leaves mostly in whorls of 3, awl-like, about 1/3" long, with shallow groove on top of leaf

·         leaves glaucous to blue-green in color, with no purpling of foliage in winter

·         1-2' tall with 10-15' spread

·         requires full sun, tolerant of poor soils, as long as not wet; tolerates high pH soils

·         slow growth rate

·         can be affected by Phomopsis blight
