Location on campus:  in the planting beds on either side of the west entrance to Pummill Hall, and many other locations around campus.

·         simple, alternate, semi-evergreen, linear leaves 12-18" long, 1/2" wide with entire margins; either dark green or variegated with yellow stripes on margins

·         stays in clumps, doesn=t spread from runners       

·         foliage height 12-15"

·         flowers are 2-18" spikes of lavender flowers in late summer; purple-black berries follow

·         good for full sun to shade, tolerant of most soils except very dry
