                         Broussonetia papyrifera:  Paper Mulberry

                   ·         leaves alternate, deciduous, simple, polymorphic, general ovate shape, but sometimes with 2-3 lobes; thin, pubescent and rough-textured

                   ·         stems stout, gray-green, to gray-brown, pubescent

                   ·         bark gray-brown, shallowly ridged

                   ·         dioecious—fruit is red-orange, rounded aggregate of drupes (fleshy), like a small hedge-apple

                   ·         grows 40-50’ tall and equally wide

                   ·         tolerant of most soils

                   ·         medium to fast growth rate
