Cotoneaster horizontalis:  Rockspray Cotoneaster, Rock Cotoneaster, Creeping Cotoneaster

·         leaves alternate, oval, thick, semi-evergreen, 0.25-0.5” long and 3/4 as wide; dark green & glossy above, lighter green, slightly pubescent underneath

·         stems are brown to reddish brown; pubescent when young, becoming glossy smooth with age (and turning more gray);  branch in a unique and characteristic fish-bone pattern

·         flowers are ¼” diameter, white to pink in leaf axils—not very dense, so not particularly noticeable or attractive

·         fruit is an tiny rounded pome, bright red, but not real noticeable

·         grows 2-3’ tall and 6-8’ diameter

·         prefers general cotoneaster culture

·         slow to medium growth rate
