CIS 429 Research Projects

  1. Form a one, two or three person research team (class members only).
  2. Select an IT topic from the textbook chapters covered in this course. (Your topic should not be too broad, such as "the Internet" or "CRM"--try to be somewhat more specific, such as "use of the Internet in Missouri state government" or "CRM in the entertainment industry".)
  3. Send an email (subject line: CIS 429 research proposal) to the instructor (RichardJohnson@MissouriState.edu) that includes the names of all team members and a one-sentence description of your proposed IT research topic. Also include the page number in the text where the topic is found. You may choose to look ahead in the chapters remaining to be studied for a topic. This research proposal is due by midnight exactly four weeks prior to the last day of classes.
  4. Find at least five articles (1000 words or more each) in journals or on the Internet (no textbooks) directly related to that topic. Most of the articles must be written in the last five years.
  5. Write a minimum five page research paper (12 pt. font, double spaced, 1" margins), excluding the bibliography, on the selected topic using all articles, which must be listed in the bibliography. Internet articles must have the complete, exact URL listed in the citation! The paper must be written using Word.
  6. Email (subject line: CIS 429 research paper) the Word document to RichardJohnson@MissouriState.edu by midnight on the last day of class. In this final email, list the team members again, provide a sentence describing your topic and provide the page number where it is found in the text.
  7. Also, by midnight on the last day of class, each team member must send an email to the instructor (RichardJohnson@MissouriState.edu) listing all other members of your team and your evaluation of the contribution each made to the project (0-5, where 0 is no contribution and 5 is excellent contribution). These evaluations will be used in determining the score of each team member on the project.
