Our first field site was in southwest Texas, at Indio Ranch Here, the wildlife greeted us at the door
We look relaxed and rested here, but  . . . . . . .  . . . . then the field work began.
Typical plants included the creosote bushes (background), prickly-pear cactus, and ocotillo.  Two cicadas can be seen at the top of one of the ocotillo branches.  Sotol
 
Sunsets in the desert can be very pretty.
