Ammi majus  L.; Bishops Flower:  (Bayer Code:  AMIMI; US Code AMMA)

·         Cool-season annual or biennial in the Carrot family

      ·         First produces a rosette of overall oval leaves that are pinnately-divided into oval, toothed lobes

      ·         Leaves and stems are hairy; flowering stem grows 1-3 feet tall

      ·         Inflorescences are open umbels of clusters of tiny white flowers

      ·         Appears somewhat similar to wild carrot, but wild carrot has a very tight umbel, and the basal leaves on wild carrot are very finely-divided and feathery

      ·         Fruit is oval, ridged, upright, green to yellow-tan when ripe

      ·         Not widely seen in midwest (above photos taken in Talinn, Estonia)
