Annual Prickly Poppy:  (pp. 382-383 in Weeds of the Great Plains; not in Weeds of the Northeast)

*    native prairie, range and pasture plant that can be toxic to livestock if grazed

*    has blue-green, lobed, spiny, waxy leaves and stems

*    grows 1-4 feet tall

*    has large white flowers with paper-like petals

*    not usually a serious weed problem, but an abundance in a grazed area may indicate overgrazing
