·         rosette forming, simple perennial with fibrous root system

·         leaves long, narrow, with prominent veins

·         inflorescence a 6" spike, with flowers clustered at tip (similar to foxtails)

·         flowers produced in late-spring to mid-summer

·         reproduces readily by seed
