·         biennial or short-lived perennial with oval leaves with serrate margins; leaves clasp stems

·         grows 1-2' tall with much branching, at least toward top

·         flowers are yellow, with many curly, sticky-resinous bracts around head inflorescence

·         found in dry, disturbed soil, fields, pastures, non-cropland
