Fall Panicum: 

·         warm-season, annual grass; also called panic grass

·         has semi-spreading to upright growth habit, 1-3’ tall

·         has open panicle, with flowers/seeds only toward tips of flower branchlets

·         prefers deep, fertile, moist soils, but adaptable

·         has deep, aggressive root system; hard to pull or till mature plants

·         prefers acid and moist soils (other names for it are swamp grass and sour grass)

·         is a problem in corn, soybeans, cotton, vegetables and other summer annual crops
