Motherwort:

·         creeping perennial weed that produces rhizomes to spread to form colonies in fertile, moist soils

·         can grow in full sun or moderately dense shade, found in fields, barnyards, fencerows, urban areas, disturbed sites

·         has opposite, palmately lobed (young stems) to lanceolate (flowering stems) leaves on slender, square, unbranched stems

·         flowers are lavender to white in clusters in leaf axils

·         used in folk medicine for heart remedies and a stimulant; bees can make good honey from flowers
