Purple Ammannia: 

·                     summer annual in Lythraceae (Loosestrife Family) with opposite, linear leaves and axillary flowers

·                     both leaves and stems tend to turn red as plant matures

·                     single-stemmed to much branched, growing 6-18” tall

·                     found in moist, fertile crop areas, pastures
