Sibara, Virginia Rockcress: (not in Weeds of the Great Plains, nor Weeds of the Northeast)

·         winter annual weed with basal rosette of shiny, reddish to purple to dark green pinnately lobed leaves with larger terminal lobe

·         grows 6-12” tall and equally wide or wider—spreading growth habit

·         inflorescence often terminal racemes on horizontally-spreading branches with tiny white flowers

·         seed pods are flattened with rounded tip; usually reddish purple to dark green about 0.25-1” long

·         common in cultivated crops, warm-season turf, non-crop areas

·         similar to hairy bittercress, but sibara stems and leaves with less hairs and fruit siliques are more flattened on sibara
