·         Spiny Cocklebur:  (not in Weeds of the Great Plains; pp. 166-167 in Weeds of the Northeast)

o   has elongated, shiny, lobed leaves (like an oak leaf) with bright white veins

o   has 3 long spines at each node

o   fruit is like common cocklebur, but without two pointed “beaks” at tip of common cocklebur “bur”

o   is found in localized areas in row crops
