·         winter annual in turf and landscapes with tiny palmately-lobed leaves in the Violaceae (Violet) family

·         flowers are pale blue & white or blue & yellow

·         grows only 3-5 inches tall

·         more common in dormant, warm-season turfgrasses; also in cultivated fields, disturbed sites

·         similar field pansy has larger, more shallowly-lobed leaves and larger, more yellow flowers
