Yellow Foxtail:

·           smaller plant, sometimes spreading in nature, 6-18" tall

·           stem bases flattened, has a few long hairs at base of leaf blades only

·           inflorescence 1-3" long, very upright, often yellowish in color, also sometimes purplish

·           seen in vegetable crops, lawns, roadsides, more tolerant of compaction and dry soils than green foxtail and giant foxtail

*    compare also with bristly foxtail and knotroot bristlegrass or yellow bristlegrass
