Tomasi1.jpg (13629 bytes) Welcome to my Web Site! Whether intentional or accidental, you have arrived at the webpage of Dr. Tom Tomasi. If the latter, you should be able to go back the way you came with the "BACK" button on your browser. If the former, feel free to browse around and learn a bit more about me and my work.

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY: I am the Associate Dean of the Graduate College and a professor of Biology at Missouri State University, where I have been since 1986. While doing my stint as an administrator, my teaching responsibilities will only include Physiological Ecology, Scientific Writing for graduate students, and summer classes in Field Biology, to learn about Desert Ecology & Mountain Ecology. Besides teaching college classes, I am involved in several educational activities involving K-12 students, and others involving Missouri State University graduate students.  In my research lab, we have worked primarily with wild species of mammals (from shrews to elephants), addressing questions of "physiological ecology" (using physiological data to answer ecological questions relating to survival and reproduction).  Most of this work involves energetics (energy expenditure).  Some applied aspects of this include looking at the effects of environmental contaminants on the energetics of rodents, and the effect of temperature changes on energy cost/savings of hibernating bats.
